A family drama in which the characters' personal tragedy becomes a metaphor for a historical and political rift. Masha, 40, is a single mother living in Moscow and dependent for years on her relationship with a famous actor. Anya, 36, is happily married to Vadim, a military man, and raising a son in Odessa. On February 22, 2022, Vadim urgently sends Anya and their child to Moscow, ostensibly for their grandmother's birthday. A special military operation begins the next day.
